Reboot if iPhone Won’t Turn On
If an Apple Watch / iPhone won’t turn on by home button or power button, it might just be powered off. Press and hold the power button on iPhone/Apple watch until you see Apple logo. Your device will turn on as usual and hopefully there you won’t need to do anything else.
Battery Issue Causing iPhone Won’t Turn On
Before proceeding any further, check if your iPhone or Apple watch won’t turn on because their battery is depleted. In low battery, your iPhone disables all functions and alerts you with low battery sign on display. But in case battery becomes completely drained, it won’t have enough power to show an alert on the screen too. So you’re presented with a dead screen that won’t respond or let you turn on your iPhone/Apple Watch. Plug in your charger and see if the screen comes alive. If it doesn’t, wait for a couple of hours and try to reboot as described in the above method.
Hard Restart to fix iPhone Won’t Turn On
If you’ve charged your device for a considerable time but your Apple Watch or iPhone won’t turn on yet, you can try a hard reset. What a hard reset does is that it cuts off the battery power which in turn drains the memory of your iOS device.
For a hard restart, press and hold the home button and the power button on your iPhone simultaneously till you see the Apple logo. It might take around 10 seconds or so.
On your Apple Watch, press and hold the Digital Crown as well as the side button until Apple logo appears. You can also do a hard reboot if your iOS device freezes for some reason.
Connect to iTunes and perform a system restore
If your Apple Watch / iPhone won’t turn on despite all, you can connect your device to iTunes and perform a system restore. It may also occur that iTunes may not recognize your device. In such a case, try to put your device in Recovery Mode. While your device is still connected to a computer with iTunes, perform hard restart as described above. Keep on holding the two buttons even though you see Apple logo screen and you will activate Recovery Mode screen.
You will then see a pop-up on iTunes which tells you that your iOS device needs an update and a restore. Click on the update button and let your computer download the updates. If it takes more than 15 minutes, iTunes will prompt you to activate Recovery Mode again. Restore your device and let it reboot and hopefully your iPhone and Apple Watch won’t be dead anymore.
