If you have Jailbreak on your iPhone or iPad, you can close all apps on your iOS device easily and quickly. However, if you choose not to jailbreak your device, then that’s completely another story. You cannot close apps on iPhone all at once. But, you can close apps on iPhone and iPad one by one using the traditional method of force close.
However, first let’s drive a big misconception out of the way. If you want to close all apps on your iPhone to make your battery time last longer, it’s not worth the effort. It has been proven again and again that apps running in the background don’t affect your battery time. On the other hand, it takes more resources of your device to launch an app. Therefore, it is recommended to let your frequently used apps run in the background.
If you still feel the need to close all apps running in the background, you have two ways to do so.
How to Close All Apps on iPhone – Without Jailbreak
The traditional method to close apps on iPhone doesn’t require you to Jailbreak it. The method is well known but you can only close the apps one by one using this method. You must be familiar with App Switcher. It is a feature of iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad that lets you view the list of open apps in your device.
You can use App Switcher to switch between apps quickly. When you launch an app and then go to menu and open another app or go to home screen, the app you opened doesn’t close on its own. Instead it keeps running in the background and you can switch to it using App Switcher or tapping its icon on home screen.
If you want to close your apps on iPhone, you can force close them one by one from the App Switcher. Open the App Switcher by clicking twice on the Home button. Now tap and hold an app in the open apps list and use multiple fingers to swipe it up and out of the list. Thus you have force closed your open app. You can do so with all the apps in the app switcher. For older iOS versions, tap button ‘x’ at the top of an app in App Switcher to close apps in iPhone.
This method is called traditional method as it doesn’t require Jailbreak.
How to Close All Apps on iPhone at Once With Jailbreak
Closing apps one by one using traditional method is quite laborious especially if you’ve to open a lot many apps. But if you use Jailbreak tweaks like SmartClose, you can close all the apps on iPhone in a second. SmartClose is a Cydia tweak developed by Ryan Petrich and you can close all the apps on iPhone at once much like you can do in an android device. As you already know, the iOS 10 jailbreak is already available. You can use this method with your Yalu iOS 10.1.1 Jailbreak:
- Open Cydia.
- Go to Sources and add http://rpetri.ch/repos/
- Find SmartClose and install it.
ForceClose adds another panel of options in Settings app of your iOS device such as iPhone or iPad. Here you can assign a gesture to SmartClose and use this gesture every time you want to close all your open apps on iPhone or iPad. This tweak will close all apps on iPhone in a moment.
You can also try out ClassicSwitcher or SwitchSpring as alternative Cydia tweaks for your jailbroken device. But do remember, if you want to close apps on iPhone to enhance battery time, it’ll be a fruitless exercise. Your battery won’t be happy!
